"The Ministry of Music at the First Presbyterian Church of Edmond proudly shoulders the responsibility of reaching as many people as possible through music that creates an atmosphere for worship!"
It is our prayer that the music selected and presented will foster spiritual growth and a deep belief in Jesus Christ. To that end, it is not our goal to prepare and present music as a form of music education. Rather, we chose music with the hope that it will inspire and motivate the congregation and musicians alike.
In our view, to offer only one style of music would seem to imply that we have “cookie cutter” lives with identical backgrounds, education, tastes, preferences, and experiences. Since we know that premise is completely untrue, we offer not only different styles of worship music but also we seek as much diversity as possible within the general frame work of each service. And on occasion there are opportunities for “cross-over” experiences as well. To that end we are always looking for and welcoming new musicians, trained and untrained, into the music ministry. By virtue of the fact that some groups have specific personnel requirements, a “screening” process is required before new members are brought into those groups. In contrast there are groups that are open to all who wish to participate without having to audition.
Remember, we cannot know about your desire to join us in ministry unless we become aware of your talents and interests. So, introduce yourself and let us know how you would like to serve so we can have you participate in the group where you will be the most successful and inspired.
May Jesus Christ be praised!
